Email Update Sent Home – See Attached

Good morning,

Please read the full email, as all points are important for the final weeks of school.

Pre-UIL Concert:

This is to remind you of our Pre-UIL choir concert on Tuesday, April 16th, at 7pm. Students are required to arrive no later than 5pm in their uniforms** to begin warm-up and dress rehearsal. Doors open to the public at 6:45pm. We can’t wait to see you. Please remember that this concert is a showcase of our UIL material that we will present at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading during the week following Easter. We will be sending students home with a sheet containing all relevant UIL Contest information by the end of the week. Per UIL “no pass/no play” standards, this concert and subsequent contest are limited to students that are academically eligible. Your student will know their eligibility status.

**Uniforms for this concert and UIL contest are students’ black tuxedo/choir dress. For men, this includes black socks, black dress shoes, and deodorant (axe is not deodorant). For women, this includes black tights (no bare ankles), and hair out of their face.

Choir Banquet:

Choir Banquet is right around the corner!  Students should be bringing home a green choir banquet form. Please return the form to us by the concert if students wish to attend banquet. All choir students are allowed to attend Choir Banquet and we hope they will.  We are looking forward to a fun night together! All dates and relevant information are included on the green sheet.

Pop Show:

Please review our updated calendar for pop show rehearsals. These will be mandatory/graded for all UIL eligible students. As we get closer to the end of the year, it is important that your child’s choir fee has been paid in full. With the new system, fees appear as two separate payments, one per semester. Students will not receive their pop show shirt if their fee is outstanding. Please check to see if your fee is paid by logging in to the ORHS website’s financial portal called “Schoolcashonline.”

POP SHOW THIS YEAR WILL ONLY BE FRIDAY EVENING. In order to assure our students get to perform for a full audience, we will be canceling the Saturday evening performance of Pop Show.

Thank you,

West & Kay

Important Info & Trip Changes

Choir Reminders:

  1. Deposits for the New Orleans Trip are due tomorrow, Friday, September 7th.  The $155 student deposit should be made out to ORHS Choir Boosters.
  2. Our Choir Open House will occur on the same night as the ORHS Open House.  Please plan to come by the choir room during the ORHS Open House on Monday, September 10th between 6 and 7:45 PM.  Bells will ring every ten minutes.  We will give the same presentation during each segment.
  3. Choir Fees are now loaded onto each student’s “SchoolCashOnline” account, accessible via the ORHS Homepage.  Please pay your student’s choir fee as soon as possible.  For more information about the choir fee, you may view the ORHS Choir Handbook online at ORHSChoir.com.

Last week we sent home a form for our new trip. The front page reads:

“The final count for the new york trip was less than required for the trip to stay at its quoted price. We are making a change hoping to be able to include more students. Having spoken with our travel company, we have decided to take a short trip to New Orleans, instead.

We will leave on the Friday before Spring Break and return on Sunday. Please see the attached itinerary and payment schedules. Because we will travel by motor coach, there will be no baggage fees, and all meals are included in the price.

If you sent a NY deposit, we have attached a form that you may use to let us know how you would like to move forward on the New Orleans trip.”

If you would like to change your mind about attending this trip, please let us know. There was a form sent home for a signature in regards to your NYC deposit (if you have paid).

Please check back tomorrow, 9/7 for an updated website tab containing all documents and itineraries. We apologize for any lapse in communication between ourselves, the students, and parents.

Thank you so much for your flexibility.

NYC Trip Questions Answered

Don’t Forget That Trip Payments and Commitment are Due Tomorrow!

Additional forms can be found under the NYC Trip Tab above.

Question 1: Can parents use airline points (United Airlines) toward their own trip or their child’s trip?

A: “Since it is a group flight, I will not be able to apply their points to our group flight. If they would like to book their own flight with points, they are more than welcome to! They would sign up as normal and let our helpdesk know (help@greenlightgrouptours.com or they can call 904.819.1820) and we will take off the flight from their trip price so they can book with points.”

Question 2: What if a student’s parents want to meet them in NYC and leave NYC for another spring break destination (Florida, Canada, etc…)?

A: Since this is a group flight, I wouldn’t be able to change the child return flight. They would be more than able to book their own flight. They would sign up as normal and let our helpdesk know (help@greenlightgrouptours.com or they can call 904.819.1820) and we will take off the flight from their trip price so they can book their own flights.”
