ORHS Head Choir Director –Elisa West
Mrs. West earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Music Education at Howard Payne University and a Master of Music in Performance at The Boston Conservatory.
Mrs. West is beginning her fifteenth year of teaching. Before coming to Oak Ridge High School, West taught as the Head Choral Director at Coppell High School in Coppell, TX, and as a Voice Instructor and later as Visiting Professor for Sam Houston State University. In addition, Mrs. West taught for five years as Head Choral Director for Peet Junior High and as a K-6 General Music and Choir Teacher at Deretchin Elementary here in Conroe ISD. Mrs. West is an active member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association.
Mrs. West’s choirs consistently receive Sweepstakes ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading. In February of 2016 the Peet Chamber Choir was honored to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association’s State Convention. In 2007 Mrs. West’s Coppell HS Madrigal Choir won 1st Place at American Classic’s Madrigal Festival and were invited to perform as the Honor Choir the following year.
Mrs. West is married to Clay West, the Head Choir Director at Conroe High School. The West’s have a son, Kyler, who is a freshman music major at Baylor University (Sic’ em, Bears!), and a daughter, Maryn, who is a sophomore soprano and Golden Girl at Conroe High School.
